Another Nollywood ‘Baba’ dies Barely 10 days after the death of renowned comic actor, Baba Sala.

Nollywood Yoruba has once again been thrown into sorrowful session as legendary actor ‘Baba No Regret’ passes on.

Baba No Regret whose real name is Ola Omonitan has died at the age of 80.

The late comic actor was best known for his television series Omo Araye Le and Bata Wahala.

He was said to have died almost immediately after he was discharged from the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

He had initially been receiving treatment at the hospital for multiple ailments which also included prostate cancer.

MKO Abiola’s daughter has revealed what the late politician was doing before the June 12 election was annulled.

Hafsat, daughter of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, on Tuesday disclosed that the late winner of the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election was already rehearsing how to deliver his inauguration speech as the President before the election was annulled.

Hafsat disclosed this in her vote of thanks at a ceremony where her late father was formally honoured as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.

Choose Between MKO Abiola And Abacha, Stop Confusing Us – Soyinka To Buhari


Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka has called on president Muhammadu Buhari to take a stand between late MKO Abiola and former military president, Sani Abacha.

Soyinka, speaking on Tuesday during the Special National Honours Investiture at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, urged Buhari to stop confusing Nigerians and take a stand.

He was one of the speakers at the occasion where MKO Abiola, the adjudged winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and others were honoured.

Soyinka said, “As we inaugurate hall of fame, we should inaugurate hall of shame on another hand.

”Hall of Shame should be in line with Hall of Honours. Many unsung heroes and heroines. The torture, dehumanizing of Nigerians were horrendous.

“35 Containers Of Tramadol Seized” – NAFDAC


Moji Adeyeye, Director General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), said that at least 35 containers of tramadol had been seized at various ports in the country.

Adeyeye disclosed this while speaking with NAN in Abuja on Sunday.

She said nine out of the seized containers of tramadol were released to NAFDAC by the Nigeria Customs Service and had been destroyed by her agency.

“We are seriously working with the customs on this and each time they seize any container, they usually invite us to come and see the containers with tramadol,” she said.

“So far, 35 containers were seized and only nine of them have been handed over to NAFDAC which we have destroyed.”

She, however, decried the delay by the customs in handing over the rest of the containers to her agency.

According to Adeyeye, who is also a professor of pharmacology, the drug destroys children’s brain thereby threatening the future generation of the nation.

She lauded the present administration for placing an embargo on codeine, which she said, like tramadol, should only be given only by prescription as done in advanced country.

The Director General said that NAFDAC was more determined and committed than ever to stem the menace of illicit and fake drugs in the country.

Daily Sun reports that all is still not well in the Super Eagles’ camp, ahead of the World Cup.

According to the report, Onazi, who plies his trade with Trabzonspor of Turkey, would no longer serve as assistant captain.

The national team manager, Gernot Rohr is not disposed to the appointment of a vice captain, saying the idea was counter productive to his plans ahead of the Mundial.

“Rohr has resolved to cancel the position of assistant captain in the Super Eagles as it is believed to be one of the issues militating against the team.

“Mikel remains is the captain and have been told to hand over the captain’s band to the most senior player on the pitch whenever he is being substituted.

“By this pronouncement, Onazi ceased to be Super Eagles’ vice captain from now on,” a source was quoted as saying.

“This Is Nigeria” Femi Falana Finally Speaks, Blasts Muslim Group For Threatening To Sue His Son, Falz


Human rights activist and renowned lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has dared the Muslims Rights Concern, MURIC, to sue his rapper son, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, if they are aggrieved by his trending ‘This is Nigeria’ video.

Recall that the group during the week released a statement, ordering Falz to take down “This is Nigeria” video which, according to them, ridicules their religion because some girls were seen in the footage wearing hijab and dancing Shaku Shaku.

They also threatened to take a legal action against the rapper after the expiration of the ultimatum given to him.

But reacting to the threat, the renowned lawyer told Vanguard that in as much as freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed in the country, nobody has the right to threaten another person.

According to him, the video in question contains a lot of messages and desired to be encouraged by anybody who has the interest of this country at heart.

Speaking further, Falana said he has confirmed that his son, who’s also a lawyer by profession is handling the threat within the ambit of the law.

“My son is a lawyer and I have confirmed that he’s handling the threat within the ambit of the law. The video in question contains a lot of messages and it should be encouraged by anybody who has the interest of our country at heart.

“Since the group has threatened to sue him or threatening to sue him. My son has promised that he would meet them in court. I support that decision.

“We all belong to this country, nobody can threaten another person. Freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed.

“If you are aggrieved as a result of any publication or record, the appropriate thing for you to do is to go to court. I’d hope that they will go to court at the expiration of the ultimatum given to my son,” said the renowned lawyer.

A Nigerian pastor and his wife with their twin babies have reportedly survived a ghastly motor accident in Benin.


Mr Chinedu Amirinta is a Nigerian pastor who recently escaped tragic death with his family in an accident.

The pastor took to his Facebook page to thank God after his wife, his twins and himself, survived a ghastly motor accident near Benin while on their way to Lagos for the children’s Thanksgiving.

“SARS Cannot Misbehave In The North, Most Southerners Are Cowards” – Nigerian Man


A Twitter user, @villageparrot has declared that Yoruba people are cowards, reason for the constant SARS Brutality.

According to him, the brutality from SARS can only happen in Southern Nigeria because residents of the area are cowards…. adding that most of the SARS officers are scared of the north, reason why when they are transferred to the North, they refuse to go because they claim they won’t make money there.

His tweets reads;

Has anyone asked why these SARS don’t misbehave in the North? Smh. Northerners don’t take brutality lightly. Anything that looks like injustice to them isn’t taken lightly. You see that thing PHCN do here that you won’t have light for a month? They can’t try it in the North. I’m going to start right here. We often times say “Hausa” people are not intelligent. That is very far from the truth. If anything, they’re more informed than us down in the South.

“Hausa” (as they’re widely called) people listened to Voice of America, BBC, way before Southerners did. Do you think an average northerner carries a transistor radio as an accessory? They never miss the news! They listen to international news a lot! They watch NTA a lot!

An average Northerner knows his/her rights. Why do you think police don’t misbehave up North? Because if a SARS officer kills anyone anyone in the North, he’s going to die on the spot!

Watched that video SARS shot a young man alleged to be a fraudster. Everyone stood off and watched from afar. But if it was someone accused of stealing, they’ll bring petrol and lighter to burn the person. Nigerians are cowards and we are no different from beasts.

Sometimes I think we deserve what we get from this country. I don’t see any day there’s an otherwise proof. Nigerians have so much power when they come against ‘vulnerable’ people. But when it comes to their oppressors, they become little cats.

The other day I saw a video in which a girl was slapped by two MOPOL. The men in the minivan looked on, while another girl videotaped the incident. None of them intervened. But let it be someone accused of stealing in a market, they know where to find matchbox, petrol and tyres

If a police officer is attempting to arrest anyone in the North, people are going to come out to ask why. So, no police officer goes about wantonly arresting innocent people in the North. In the South, a police officer harasses people and we look on. In the North, it can’t happen.

Let me also tell you that when police officers in the South are transferred to the North, they always refuse to go because they know they won’t make money there. According to them, the North is “dry”. Southerners are cowards! Yoruba people especially. Only thing we have is mouth! We only know how to boast and attend owambes that are financed by debts.

“He Put His Wee Wee In My Wee Wee” – 2year Old Girl Narrates How Her Teacher Raped Her In Her School In Lekki


A video of a two year, 11 month-old pupil of Chrisland School, Lekki, Lagos portraying her alleged serial defilement by the school’s supervisor, 47 year old Mr Adegboyega Adenekan, was played today at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

The Nation reports that the video was played during the testimony of Miss Olive Ogedengbe, a clinical psychologist, at the trial of Adenekan over defilement of a child.

The video recording (Exhibit A1), depicted the child, named Child X, in the clinical psychologist’s office on Nov. 28, 2016 answering questions about the alleged defilement from Ogedengbe and her colleague. In the recording, Child X was given a sheet of paper and asked to draw the private part of Adenekan, which she did as well as another image with the ensuing questions.

Child X, referring to the other image said: “that is the hand he used to put in my wee wee.

“Ogedengbe: “Where is Mr Adenekan’s wee wee?” Child X in response, pointed to her private area.

Ogedengbe: “Does he put his wee wee in your wee wee?” Child X: “Yes.”

Child X in the recording, using a teddy bear as a puppet, also showed how the supervisor allegedly sexually abused her friend (name withheld).

Kissing the private region of the teddy bear, the child can be heard saying in the video recording “Your bum bum is delicious, your bum bum is sweet, I will eat your bum bum.”

Ogedengbe, before the video recording was played in the courtroom, in her testimony while being led by Mr Jide Boye, the Chief State Counsel, narrated to the court what had previously transpired during her interaction with the child.

She said: “The mother came into my office with a referral letter from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) and narrated the story and she started crying. She (the mother) said she did not know the reason why this was happening to her. She said she was usually over protective of her children and follows them everywhere except school. She said somebody in her church handed her a book on sexual education for children which she read and decided to practice it on her child.

That was when the child disclosed that she has been defiled. She told her mother that Mr Adenekan comes to take her out of the class and shows her some videos that are sexually stimulating. She pleaded with us to help to correct the psyche of her child. I carried out an independent psychological evaluation on the child. I asked the mother to sit at the corner of the room and myself and my colleague interacted with the child. We did not directly start interrogating the child as that was against the ethics of our profession. We started an initial interaction with the child to make her relax and gain her trust. When our trust was gained by the child and she was in a happy frame of mind, I asked the child: ”who touched your wee wee?” and the child repeated on several times `Mr Adenekan’. I was shocked because I did not expect it from a child her age. I brought out my assessment sheet and I told the child to draw any person that comes to her mind.

She restlessly started jumping around “Mr Adenekan is on my mind” we got her back to being settled but she continued talking without yet drawing. She (Child X) said “Mr Adenekan said it is good for a child to put her wee wee in Mr Adenekan’s wee wee” at that point in time we decided to do a recording to ensure her story remains consistent. We asked her how does Mr Adenekan’s wee wee look like and she demonstrated playfully by pointing her finger upwards stating “sharpener”.

“We asked sharpener or pencil? She stated `sharpener.’

We told her to draw Mr Adenekan’s wee wee. We want to see what it looks like.

“To my greatest shock and surprise, for a two-year-old child, she drew a picture which symbolises a reproductive organ of a man in the form of a penis.

“I then asked her, show me your wee wee, she pointed at her private part. I asked her to show me where Mr Adenekan’s wee wee is and she pointed at the lower region of her private part. By then the child was again getting very restless and she ran to her mother who was at the corner of the room. We still wanted to hear more but she was playfully running around and her mother started probing her: “Is it only you he comes around to take out of the class” and she replied no. The child said it was herself and her friend (name withheld) so her mother asked her to show us what he normally does with her friend.”The child said he kisses her bum bum and he licks her bum bum, the child demonstrated by using a puppy in the room. That was the end of the first interview with the child.”

Ogedengbe during her lengthy testimony said from her evaluation, the mother and Child X needed psychological help.

She said: ”Afterwards, I decided to confirm from the mother if the child was exhibiting any symptom of psychological abuse. I asked the mother if she observed any strange behaviour in the child and the mother said yes. I had asked because I noticed in the course of interacting with the child that the child was occasionally aggressive. The mother confirmed this and also stated that the child had sleep problems and had been having nightmares.”

She also complained of sexual inappropriate behaviour from the child and that after the incident the child became curious to see naked bodies of people. From my findings I found the child exhibited aggressive behaviour, inappropriate sexual behaviour, sleeping problems and fear. After the interaction, myself and my colleague realised that the child and mother needed help. The mother also exhibited signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. We decided to do an intervention and we held two more sessions of psycho-social intervention for the mother and the mother was counselled on how to help and assist the child.”

While being cross-examined by Mr Olatunde Adejuyigbe (SAN), Ogedengbe said that Child X was not tutored on what to say during the interview by either her or Child X’s mother.

“We used projective techniques in which a client projects their subconscious minds on paper.”

The clinical psychologist revealed to Adejuyigbe that she visited the mother of Child X’s friend who was also allegedly sexually assaulted by Adenekan.

“We saw the mother of the child’s friend but she was not willing to get involved in the case because of stigma,” she said.

Ogedengbe also added that she did not interview the staff of Chrisland School, Child X’s father and her older sister. The clinical psychologist also insisted that the child was of above average intelligence.

“Children 0-5 years, are usually not able to form full sentences, the child could string meaningful sentences. In drawing a picture, most children her age do not draw meaningful drawings but she did. I have worked with children her age from diverse sections of society and she is of above average intelligence,” she said.

On re-examination by Boye, the prosecutor, Ogedengbe insisted that the child was not tutored.

“If a child is being brainwashed or tutored, the child won’t be consistent in answering several questions. You will see it in her non-verbal behaviour that she was tutored, there would be no flow of conversation, this child was not tutored,” the clinical psychologist said.

Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 prescribes a life sentence for the offence of defilement of a child.

Justice Sybil Nwaka adjourned the case till March 21 for continuation of trial.
